This is how I remember San Diego and the Surf Line from my high school and college days. F40PH and Amfleet coaches. I moved from Orange County to north Idaho in 1984. When I paid a return visit in 1987 or '88, they had begun using cab cars. Interesting, but not very photogenic. Yeah, the S.D. depot used to be a quiet, peaceful place on weekends where you could walk around pretty much at will, and admire the classic interior while waiting for your outbound train.
