The West shops were located higher up in West Burlington, away from the river. Last I'd heard, the shops were closed, but still standing, with all work moved to Topeka. Burlington had sued BNSF over terms of their land use agreement for the river front trackage, but lost the suit. The original agreement indicated that the railroad would maintain main system shops there in exchange for rights to run tracks on city property, but a succession of subsequent agreements muddied things up, so the court did not hold to that.
