Thanks for sharing that interesting video.
I once visited the Shore Fast Line in NJ who had purchased used U30B's from CR. They all seemed to be in pretty good shape - one had been given major repairs not long before CR retired it. when I asked the engineer why he didn't open the cylinder test cocks upon starting the engine for the day he explained that unlike a Class 1 orphan locomotive that has no home he knew his engine and was confident it was fine. It was.
