CCT 2101 the three engine tier 3 genset now in service since 2010 has three tier 3.5 QSK19 engines with over around 7200 hours on each engine as the cycle on and off based on the load on the engine so many times only one engine operating even with a 20 to 30 car train.
We have had no issues with the QSK19 but Smart has the tier 4 engine so it may have had to have a different cam to meet the EPA tier 4 regulations
