I know that SMART does not want to be beholden to the NWP, but if they are so concerned with breakdowns why don't they contract with the NWP to have a relief locomotive stationed at Petaluma or the Ignacio wye to rescue a broken down DMU? It seems like it would minimize the delay for passengers to a lot less than 2 hours.
