The narrow gauge ran it's last train out of Mina in 1938 but wasn't slaved until WW2. The Tonopah & Goldfield hauled fuel to the airfield at Tonopah using borrowed Army diesels (a pair of RSD-1). After the war, the airfield closed and the Army asked for the engines back. Insufficient traffic + no engines = abandonment.
