I don't mean to be fanning the flames any, but doesn't the routing shown look like it is meandering around? Look at it compared to Hwy 99. 99 is a straight shot. HSR looks more like a trolley line.

I know I'm beating a dead horse but HSR should have paralleled I5 with a few stations with big park and ride lots where the line was close to big cities. Purchasing the land would have been so much cheaper with less NIMBY opposition. It would have been great advertisement for riding it as it passed cars on the freeway. It goes to show how politicians can screw up a good idea.
