Fabulous story! Classic Beeb. One wonders how much of it is real and how much is urban legend.

Do the subways actually run all night in NY? When to they get fixed? Maintenance is the usual argument for shutting down urban rail lines for a few hours overnight. Not that it seems to have done Washington DC's Metro much good...

SJ Mercury did a similar ride-along story some years back on the one all-night bus in Silicon Valley. Including the people who live on it - sleeping there, back and forth, then actually going to work the next morning. Not much partying in that bus.
