Eureka is a great place, and if there were real jobs, other than growing ganja or selling T-shirts, and most of the youth that grew up there didn't have to move away, because there are no decent paying jobs, it might be an even better place? I have seen literally thousands of tourists board trains every day to see such things as trees and nature. They do it every day from Santa Cruz to Skagway, and it hasn't negatively affected the "quality of life". It takes some initiative and savvy marketing. I guess if some people are afraid to imagine a future with more possibilities, then it will be a backwater, that is barely hanging on?
