Maybe Brian Peoples needs to come up north to Portland to learn how by getting in bed with the light rail industry, his developer friends will get millions in on-going tax subsidies, while getting a "free" light rail train using the existing right-of-way, a promise of a lobbyist job with light rail contractors to build more light rail...

That way everybody is happy.

Brian gets rid of freight trains.

Railfans get light rail trains.

People get to ride trains.

A bike trail will run alongside the light rail tracks. The cyclists will be happy.

The environmentalists will be happy, because "light rail train"

California's state government will be happy, because "light rail train" (plus they'd be built by Siemens in Sacramento, so "jobs")

The only people unhappy, are the ones that have to pay the taxes for it.
