Dawson Railway Question

Has anyone ever driven along the old Dawson grade north of Tucumcari?

I live in Clovis and frequently go to Harding County for in-law reasons.

The line is obvious as you drive on NM39 between Mosquero, Roy and Mills. I am interested in following it from Mosquero to Tucumcari. I've looked at Google Maps and can see the grade and bridge remnants. I know the Canadian River will will need to be crossed so it might have to be done from both directions.

What I don't want to do is drive 25 miles on a dirt road to a fenced property. It's not the driving on dirt roads, I have years of experience driving out here in rural New Mexico, it is wasting time on dead ends.

If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it.
