Actually they are RIGHT NOW laying track on the former Milwaukee between Ellensburg and McCall (Waukie) to connect with the former SP&S on which they are now putting the finishing touches on relaying the track and double tracking from Pasco to Fish Lake. The ex GN is almost ready for trains between Spokane and Sandpoint to relieve congestion on the former NP. MRL is CTC'ing Paradise to DeSmet (10th sub)and relaying the double track betweeen Missoula and Garrison as well as obtaining rights on the BNSF from Garrison to Butte to Pipestone. The entire line from Garrison to Logan will be CTC'd and Bozeman Pass will be again double-tracked. The DM&E/ICE is now building the line to the coal fields in Wyoming that will then connect with the newly rebuilt MRL. These lines will connect with the former EL in Chicago which is being relaid with double track. The Maybrook line is also being relaid with the former double track but with CTC and high speed crossovers. The Poughkeepsie bridge had been repaired and will once again be double track. Thus a high capacity transcontinental railway is being put together as we speak (or type) that will run from Tacoma to New Haven. I can hear them driving spikes at this moment. Hurry and get your ticket for the celebratory first run of a train on this route. It will run August 1st and will consist of a 100 car train consisting of 30 domes, 30 sleepers, 10 diners, 10 lounges, 10 coaches and 10 RPO cars.
