Height of searchlight signals varied among various railroads. Milwaukee Road & Rock Island preferred a lower mast & head, while Union Pacific used tall masts in many locations. Santa Fe & Espee were in the middle, height - wise. Also worth noting that some railroads like to offset the head on the mast, while others mounted it on center.
