I wasn't going to say anything, folks... But since others are bringing up the real truth about Dexter Day, let me tell you something very interesting and a bunch of bull ...
After Ringling Brothers ended their many years of the Circus and related Circus Trains,
there was going to be a lot of 85-foot cars to dispose of which included many different kinds.
Somebody mentioned that maybe PLA would like one. I responded with an idea for PLA that would make honest to gosh sense. On the Club's general Email account, I suggested that PLA try to get one of the "Power Generator" cars. WHY ? Because with a total capacity of 1200 KW, they would have enough power for FIFTY train-of-lights...
But then I also mentioned that during the "OFF-SEASON", the car could be attached to a Work Train and taken, for example, to end of track at Verona, to give the work crews a massive source of power for any special work equipment they might want to operate.

Now then, PLA Treasurer Paul Veltmann, thought 'THAT' was a great idea. But then Dexter Day and his cronie 'George Childs" got wind of the suggestion and all hell broke loose.
Dexter and George said quote: "We already have an old CIRCUS car" ... I told them,
POLITELY, to re-read my statement that I discussed with Paul Veltmann.

I NEVER received a reply from "THEM"... What I did receive in return in a day or two, was a message from Paul Veltmann that he had been instructed to "remove my email access" to reach all other PLA members. I was shocked !! I POLITELY asked him in a subsequent message about "Why the Censorship" ? And "What had I done to offend whoever" ??

To this very day, NO ANSWER from anyone at PLA !!!!!!!!!! Paul Veltman is probably scared that he will lose his position on the BOARD.

My wife and I have belonged to PLA since 1991. We pay an annual fee in DUES of $ 72.00 !!
I have worked there while I lived in California. I used to be active on the SIGNAL CREW with Chair PAT LEWIS. But NEVER AGAIN, after this year I will NOT return our dues, EVER!
As a lot of my fellow railfans on A-P and T.O. have discussed in the past, this incident is a PERFECT, EXCELLENT example of how to lose Members. ONE IDIOT who wants to be PLA General Manager for LIFE, dictates POLICY !!
Just like the Gestapo at the GGRM who stripped Founder Mike Mangini of all powers many years ago !
This was a TRUE story--it only happened a couple of weeks ago. PLEASE do NOT get mad at me or Flame Me-- Why ?? Because it was the honest truth-- and remember this, "IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU" !!
