The shows were are really good and very entertaining. There is usually one less than stellar show but not this year. I am not a huge fan of steam shows but even those were good. They did not do the usual steam goober drivel with endless shots of driver close ups and some yabo oiling around and the really classic close up of the smoke box front ooh now that's artistic.

I had a really good time visiting with friends that I only see once a year. The new venue is much better than the Scottish Rite. At the beginning the Scottish Rite was great but it was getting real tired and beat up. I liked the time in California as I am from Western Washington it was a good time to go to Cali. I have only been to 24 Winterails starting in 1989 so I have seen a few and enjoyed all of them I missed a few and I hope I don't miss anymore for a while.

I hope the Californian's can make the trip. Corvallis is a nice place except for hotels they are a little pricey as it is a college town (we stayed in Albany for a lot less). It is worth the drive or fly or train trip. I made the trip from Western Washington to Stockton every year for many years and really enjoyed the trip.

I will say I checked the weather the day of Winterail and Stockton was 70 and cloudy Friday was 78 and sunny oh well Corvallis was 50 and raining but Sunday was nice.
