Right after this presidential announcement, UP announced that they will be expanding their Heritage program, and to get away from the controversies about the Cheyenne operation, will move the program to Dunsmuir, CA. To do so, they will reconstruct the Dunsmuir Roundhouse, and in a few years, the backshop buildings that were torn down in the late 1960s. The resulting infrastructure developments and workforce influx will result in a complete revitalization of the Dunsmuir business area and residential developments. Dunsmuir will once again be the most important town in Siskiyou county.
