Thanks for that, maybe there is something to photograph of RR ops, if you are there at the right time.... And, your right, there is not much real rail "action" just a siding of stored cars, every few miles. Old 66 getting to Cadiz via Amboy is another story, with as much rail action as you can take......
As to the danger, my GF's bro, a local resident of the Redneck Riviera, just told me they found "skeletons" (yes plural) near the truck stop over that way by 95, and hadn't figured out if they were transients, who'd died of natural causes, or maybe dehydration, heat stroke, or drugs (a lot of tweekers and such) murder, or whatever..... sometimes it can be hard to tell when your down to bones, and there are lots of varmints who've cleaned the carcass.
So, these are the kind of back roads where you want to have a full tank of gas, plenty of water, and not much to see, most of the year, unless you really like wide open spaces. Which right now with the wildflowers in bloom after a "wet" winter out there, can be really cool for a couple of weeks this time of year. It won't be as much fun by the middle of June, though.....
