I was up there at Noon today. There is a newly arrived small diesel GE or maybe a Porter numbered 402. It looks like an undernourished GE 44 tonner. However, the trucks don't look like anything GE. There's no builders plate anywhere to be seen. I was told the engine was acquired from the Durango and Silverton. Also that they have taken it down to the bottom of the hill and back with a train without incident. The forestry service is very hyper about fires this year so this thing might be used in lieu of the Shays if it gets any dryer.
