More on the UP special that went through Eugene Friday. The friend that saw it in not a RR person, all I know is what he told me.
It had yellow engine with a round front, not a cab set back like freight engines. There were two green cars with one door in the center.. That was followed by maybe eight clean but a kind of dirty yellow paint coaches, not stainless like Amtrak. There was a strange observation car on the end. The train was pointed south in the north yard. There were six or eight people standing around the engine like it was a crew change.
Hard to believe no one has a clue what went through Eugene. Someone else had to see it.
