FWIW, I've also had an instance in the subzero conditions of Duluth, MN where one of my locomotives had the horn valve freeze in the open position. That was not fun to fix, with the horn going full blast for nearly an hour while the local mechanic and I took turns up on the cab roof trying to thaw it out.....
