In contrast to Margaret's gross misunderstanding of PTC and the question you asked. . .
You can be assured that operational PTC will make will reduce or remove the time needed to qualify crews.
Not only does it provide grade information, but also curvature, signal location, upcoming speed restrictions and track bulletins. Did I mention that it blows the horn approaching crossings?
For better or worse, the engineer will soon become a technician/operator.
