It was once considered for National Park status, but "Steamtown" won out in the political arena. NPS spent some money in the 1980's publishing a prospectus and study that would have made EBT an industrial landmark due to its completeness. Economic revival of Scranton, PA and Nelson Blount's collection won Congress. I believe C&T and the DSNGRR were considered at some point too.
