More Oil City goofiness. Going "East of Oil City" would result in crossing Highway 99 about nine miles north of Saco, the SP siding which "Apologies to Bob No. 2" said would be the crossing point of Highway 99 for his proposed freeway.
This is because it is highly unlikely any freeway would be built through the Kern River, Kern Front and Poso Creek oilfields (Oil City is in the Kern River field. The Kern Front field adjoins the Kern River field while the Poso Creek field adjoins the Kern Front field). In skirting these fields, a freeway would wind up crossing Highway 99 about nine miles north of Saco.
