The 1800 litre fuel tanks were a part of the 80's upgrade where the 6 wheel trucks were replaced with 4 wheel flexicoils which made room for the larger fuel tanks as well as ecology tanks. The upgrades were extensive; AAR control stand, 26 air and all kinds of bells and whistles (literally). Except for getting used to the schematics when trouble shooting (which isn't often) they are a great locomotive.
