Actually this is a good idea for several reasons :
1) Bamboo is strong yet light, which makes for a stronger container floor and lower tare weight.
2) Bamboo grows like weeds, and is just as hard to kill.
3) Bamboo grows in the Orient where many containers are manufactured, so no real trees are harmed.
