BNSF Grain Trains on P&W

Portland & Western has begun operating BNSF run-through unit grain trains on its Astoria line to and from Port Westward, west of Rainier.

I was traveling up U.S. Hwy. 30 through St. Helens this morning (Aug. 9) at about 9:15 and encountered one returning to Portland, with the BNSF power still on the train. The units included an SD60M in BN Cascade Green (leading long hood forward!!!), and two C44-9Ws, one in Santa Fe Warbonnet and one in BNSF Heritage II. Apparently the SD60M was the trailing unit on the inbound trip, and there's no place to turn the power at Port Westward.
