Soo Line had a transgender engineer working out of the Twin Cities in 1996. "She" was reported to be mid-change (claimed to be changing to a lesbian), not a good engineer and was known for being somewhat flamboyant. You can pretty well guess how well most other railroaders acted, for the most part tried to ignore/avoid/tolerate the situation.
A fairly well known railfan photographer was reportedly transgender. I knew her, but she didn't seem to just be trying to live her life, and has been gone for a decade plus now.
I try to to be tolerant and live and let live. But if someone or some group thinks they somehow deserve special treatment and demand acceptance due to their religious, political, sexual preference or other personal belief, then I reserve the right to be prejudiced.
