Yes, although the high bridge was in place into at least the 1960s, and tracks may still be in place at the road crossing in Colfax!! At least they were there a few decades ago.
The NCNG was also known as the "Never Come, Never Go."
It has been reported that a pregnant lady approached the conductor asking when they might reach Grass Valley, as she was afraid her child was due. "You shouldn't have boarded in Colfax in this condition, Ma'am!" he replied, She responded, "I WASN'T in this condition when I boarded!!"
