Quote:Come on down here to the mighty Miss! We got all the EMD noise you want to hear and you even get paid for it. Tow boat crews stay on the boat generally 4 weeks on, then 2 weeks off. We'll have you EMD'ed out in no time!
A friend of a friend had a former Army boat that he had converted in to a yacht. A large group was aboard the boat for a xmas holiday cruise and around 11:00 pm I became very sleeping due to my work hours. So down to the engine room I went for some peace. The floor was steel grating with a long steel work bench in the center which was flanked on both sides by big Detroit diesels. Grabbed some shop rags for a pillow, then climbed onto the bench and laid down. 10 minutes later I was taking a nap with those screaming Detroits. Through some miracle
still have good hearing today after years in noisy environments.
My dad took me down to engine room of the Puget Sound ferry Kalakala, don't think I could have slept there.
