UP Albina - Portland, Ore.

Today, August 19th, on a trip to north Portland I discovered that the 1887 City of Portland Landmark Union Pacific Albina Yard smokestack is being cosmetically restored. Today a worker was power washing from a basket taken aloft by a Campbell crane.
I was very pleased a year or so ago to hear that part of UP's plans to demolish the freighthouse included restoring this City of Portland designated landmark that is all that remains from the early yard buildings. I am doubly pleased to see the restoration beginning.
