OK, to get away from some of the

BEFORE it was converted to a lift span.

We're still looking at the Oregon Trunk bridge. This was before the Dalles dam was completed. The southernmost span was originally a swing span as seen here; when the dam was completed in 1957, the larger span to the north of it was converted to a vertical lift span.

Thanks, swaool, I can see it now.
One might expect that Barriger photos are mostly Eastern lines, but for example, there are 89 photos in the SP&S collection, and over 1500 Southern Pacific photos.
