The 3 private CZ cars stayed on the eastbound train on Friday and were cut off at Salt Lake City, then reattached on Saturday night to the westbound. We got off the PV's in Sparks on Friday and were bussed to Winnemucca this morning where we re-boarded. The train was over 3 hours late to Winnemucca. We arrived in Emeryville around 10:30 PM tonight. The only time we had any wait was for the eastbound Zephyr and one UP intermodal train at Keddie. We saw many photographers from the Black Rock Desert all the way to Oroville. The reception at Portola was beyond your imagination with UP 1983, WP 707 and the F units parallel to the mainline. All of them saluted our train with air horn music. The cacophony of sound was truly special The food, drink and camaraderie aboard the original CZ cars was great. Thanks to Chris Skow's Trains Unlimited, Tours and CalZephyr Railcar Charters. Pictures...not tonight.
