Yesterday afternoon saw myself and another train watcher sitting on a popular public street northeast of the Grand Crossing in La Crosse, WI. Suddenly, a pair of LA Crosse city police cruisers showed up and one of the officers came around and took people's names. He claims railroad police had called them saying they were concerned about 3 people in the area. The officer was very respectful and courteous. It was disconcerting to me that they needed to get our names and would say which railroad had called. Both BNSF and CP are here. I called a BNSF employee in the know and he told me they had no rail police in the area that he knew. We were parked on a public street with a fence between us and the tracks. Nobody even left their cars.
