Thanks for the story - always fun - have pictures?
I explored some old right of ways a few years ago in Southern Arizona and was amazed at the number of pieces of old dining car china along the RoW, along with old Coke bottles. The bottles had LA, El Paso, and Phoenix on the bottom since those were the most likely diner resupply points, and the china had SP logos and lettering on the base. I assume broken dishes from the diner were tossed off the train . . .
