I predict that China will relatively quickly move to conventional nuclear(fission)in a big way. Its need for electricity is enormous and shifting to oil and natural gas is still fossil and that will run low eventually.

So why are our plutocrat geniuses like Musk obsessing on gadgetbahns like hypeloop instead of true big science and engineering like fusion, hot or cold, room temperature superconductivity, or the space elevator? "Progress" is pimped-out cellphones?

NASA depending on Musk and other entrepreneurs is retrograde and 3rd world underdeveloped like depending on Wilbur and Orville Wright to develop aviation. Multinationals have more money and resources than national governments nowadays. The countries that control and exploit their companies rather than vice versa will win out.
