Man Involved in Oklahoma Train Accident Dies

An Oklahoma man who was badly burned when a locomotive train hit his propane truck has died at a Wichita hospital.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Dennis Wayne Etherton of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, died Sunday.

Union Pacific train conductor Larry Benny Williams [53 years old - OPRRMS] of Oklahoma City and engineer Richard Pendarvis of Anadarko, Oklahoma, died in the crash.

The train was traveling from Wichita to Fort Worth, Texas, when the accident happened Friday. It occurred on U.S. Highway 81 in north-central Oklahoma, -- about 20 miles south of the Kansas border.

The truck was on the train tracks and the locomotive slammed into it, touching off a huge explosion.

Etherton was flown by medical helicopter to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis in Wichita with third-degree burns over at least half of his body.
