Down in Los Angeles, they took away lanes on streets to make into bike lanes, to get the masses out on bikes, reduce pollution, heathy people, etc, etc.....There are no masses of bike riders on the bike lanes. No masses of bike riders on the special bike paths, commuting to wok daily. Weekend riders yes, daily, working people, no.
IF (big one here) Brian and Co. care to listen with reason (I bought it), the best solution is what they did with SMART and parts of the NAPA RR, a dual bike path/rail ROW., with a three foot fence separating them. Works up there, works in Europe, and in the rest of the civilized world. (I forgot, this is Santa Cruz.) DPU's would work fine on the line. Freight at night. Major adjustments in connections with local busses, Amtrak in Watsonville or Salinas need to be made. That is what the majority of the people need to demand, not what the minority of the people are asking.

Or do what I suggest which would be a dual monorail track all of the way to Watsonville, then to Monterey. Talk about people (and Peoples) @#$%& about spoiling the view.....
