It has been years since I was out there, but at that time, the job that went to the UP interchange in Modesto came on duty at either 11 pm or midnight. On long summer days, you could (again, at the time, and hoping someone can confirm with more recent into) find that job pulling down the UP through downtown Modesto and out into the Beard Industrial District to be broken down for the numerous industries there. The hours for the job which worked the BNSF interchange at Empire were much more user friendly, with them coming on duty right around 8 am.

There was another job which came on mid afternoon, leading me to believe on weekdays they seem to have 3 jobs with on duty times staggered by roughly 8 hours, with some slight overlap between the jobs at times.
