Santa Cruz County aims for Progressive Rail deal to operate rail line

I am confident Progressive Rail and RTC staff will return to the next RTC meeting with a proposed agreement for Progressive Rail to take over freight operations in Watsonville on April 1, 2018. Negotiations for operations on the rest of the branch line will continue and a final decision will be made once the corridors study is complete later this year.

I do not see trail only winning out as real transportation solution for the branch line. Only maintaining the rail line will allow for the branch line’s inclusion in the state rail plan.
