When I was at university the calculus series that science and engineering students had to take was four semesters of calculus and analytic geometry followed by two semesters of differential equations. And I made it through. A lot of it got fuzzy with time, but I knew what would solve the problem at hand and could look it up or delegate it to someone whose specialization was more appropriate.
