I'm unsure about current operations, but I know as recently as November 2003 there was night freight service out to El Cajon on the San Diego Trolley Orange Line. I was in the San diego area on an American Red Cross assignment and remember seeing several cars on sidings in the industrial area between El Cajon and Santee. There was also a San Diego & Imperial Valley (SD&IV) Geep tied up on one of the sidings.
