Sorry - but most "steamies", whether foamer, volunteer or professional are extremely opinionated and cliquish. Sometimes its worse than taking a bunch of drunk preppy cheerleaders and only letting them talk about religion, politics and whose boyfriend slept with who.
It is a sad situation, as too many steam projects and historical rail preservation operations have suffered or even failed due to personal egos. One reason I am reluctant to get involved more than I am.
Their are some very well known people in this hobby and industry that are either regarded as Saints or @#$%& himself - it all depends on whose opinion it is.
Too bad .... imagine what could be accomplished with compromise, some mutual respect and working towards a common goal. Of course we can't use our own Congress for an example.
