Big Trees & Pacific's first CF7 arrived on Oct. 10, 1986 as the trailing unit on the Santa Cruz Local, running long hood first behind SP 3382, 3766, 4844 and 3836. There was a problem with one of the SP units, so the train stopped at Capitola to resolve the issue. When the train arrived in Santa Cruz ATSF 2641 was uncoupled and used to switch the yard. I guess the crew was either curious about the unusual engine or just wanted to save SP some fuel. After switching was complete the 2641 ran light up the Olympia line to Felton to relieve Whitcomb No. 20 of excursion duties.
