Day on the Gateway Sub-South

I decided to run to up to Westwood on Sunday and scout out this end of the Bizz Johnson trail. I was surprised to see five trains on both lines (2 BNSF, 3 UP)

There was an E/B empty coal (WREX marks) at Keddie
N/B BNSF manifest stopping at Keddie for crew change
N/B BNSF manifest at Crescent Mills
W/B auto rack at Spring Garden
W/B tank train at Beckwourth

Not bad for a Sunday.

With regards to the Gateway Sub it appears as CTC is this far south. I observed the following:

A Tri color signal cabinet with the signals turned away just south of the Mooney Road ( Hwy 89) crossing

Signals and cabinets beings installed at the North Switch of Lake Almanor siding

A Herzog work crew (working on a Sunday) installing the signals at Stampfli road south of Crescent Mills

It appears CTC will go from at least Crescent Mills to Bieber from what I have seen.

PS If you get up to this area check out the Collins Pine reload at Clear Creek Jct. Very nice
