I couldn't get the link to work so I didn't read the article, but Amtrak has dual-power Genesis units that can run on their own diesel engines or off the third rail (just like the old New Haven FL9s). They're numbered in the 700-series and I believe there are ten of them. I believe the Metro-North Genesis units are dual-power also.
