I don't understand what this thread is about, but I do know what PTC is about. It's just a scam to get rid of the conductors. UP just said yesterday that they were working on it from 2001 to 2006. And GAVE UP. What they had wasn't ready for prime time.
With two alert, trained guys in the cab, on a vast majority of the nation's lines, it is unnecessary. For heavy rail in the basin, maybe Caltrain, and the Capitol Corridor, it might be a good idea. Back east, Metra, Metro-North, and Atlanta come to mind.
But would it have even prevented Chatsworth? I think it would not have. Would it have prevented Big Bayou Canot? Absolutely not. Would it have prevented Ricky Yates's hazy ride? Probably not. Would it have prevented Fullerton? Same answer to all the questions. Maybe? If it was an avanced enough system.
Oh, and the company also said that everything they have fram a Dash-8 and older probably would not have the electronics necessary.
Bottom line: Would you all like to pay for it? If you want it, you might have to.
