I suspect that someone may have forgotten to pay the domain name fee (is that what it's called?) A similar situation happened to a model railroad group that I am a member of . . . there are internet vampires who look for expired domains, then snatch them up and charge exorbitant fees for the original owners to buy them back--just another modern extortion racket.
