The GSC " Tri - Mount " 3-axle truck was known for being hard on track, knocking it out of alignment on curves. This is part of the reason Espee re-assigned their ALCo C-628's & C630's to yard service in Houston, Eugene, and West Colton, where the straight track was more forgiving. I recall Monon traded in their C-628's for C-420's partially for this reason as well.
The Tri-Mount truck remained the standard truck under the ALCo C-636; the Hi-Ad truck was an extra - cost option that most railroads opted for.
