Looking at the car, the pile of lumber along with the completed portion; how many cars of 1x8 wet hemlock do you think an elevator took? 6-8? Grain elevators were the fist real market for hemlock lumber in the NW. Before that, if it wasn't Douglas Fir, it wasn't lumber.
