Washington State University Rural Economics Professor, Dr. Ken Cassavant, and his associates have been contacted to complete two more studies of rural railroading in Eastern Washington. One study is funded by the federal government and is to study rural economic issues including rail and truck transportation, the second study is comissioned by the WSDOT to determine possible traffic levels and potential need to rebuild the burned bridge near Colfax and/or rebuild the former Union Pacific line between Thornton and Oakesdale. Both studies should be completed by spring. ((Anyone have a current count on the number of studies that have been done on these lines and the money that has been pissed away on studies of these lines!!!!))
